About

Welcome to the website of the Traditional Cosmology Society.

Founded by Emily Lyle in 1984, the Society is a scholarly association concerned with the study of myth, religion and cosmology across cultural and disciplinary boundaries, with the goal of increasing our understanding of world-views in the past and the present.

Though our membership extends all over the globe, we are loosely affiliated with the Department of Celtic and Scottish Studies at the University of Edinburgh. We hold meetings throughout the year, along with occasional conferences and other scholarly events.

Our peer-reviewed journal, Cosmos: The Journal of the Traditional Cosmology Society is published annually (roughly), in Edinburgh.

To join the mailing list of the Society, contact us. For those wishing to join the Society as members, registration periods usually run between October and January. Please access the Membership page here (or via the menu at the top of the website) for more details on how to apply.
